Join CPIJ

You can apply for CPIJ membership through the online application system. Please click on the button below to complete the application process.

After applying, please pay the annual membership fee. There is no application fee.
Credit card or bank transfer can be used to pay your membership fee.

Please log in to your "My Page" and complete the procedures. Credit card payments will be applied from the 1st of the month following the application.

Membership is subject to approval by directors board. Your membership will be approved on or about the 20th of the month following your application.

Benefits and Services

CPIJ membership entitles you to a wide range of benefits and services. In addition, by participating in CPIJ activities, you will have the opportunity to contribute to your own professional development, interact with other members, and much more.

The main benefits and services are as follows; 

  • You will receive CPIJ's magazine "City Planning Review" in Japanese.
  • You can publish your research and investigation results in our journal, in the our other publications, or present them at the annual conference or ICAPPS.
  • You can attend events organized by CPIJ for free or at a discount.
  • You will have online access to various documents and data, such as back issues of "City Planning Review" and archived videos of events.

Please note that most of the services provided by CPIJ are in the Japanese language.

Membership Requirements and Fees

Regular Member Individuals with knowledge and experience in urban planning.
It qualifies academics in urban and regional planning, as well as for practicing planners, policy makers, students, and others interested in planning.

Student Member University students majoring in urban and regional planning, urban design.
Bachelor's, Master's or Doctoral students are eligible.

[Note]
1) The fiscal year begins April 1 and ends March 31. There is no discount for joining mid-year.
2) If you are under 30 years old as of April 1 of the year of application, the annual fee is 8,000 JPY for three years including the year of admission.
3) If you are a member of overseas institutes with which MOUs have been signed (Korea Planning Association (KPA), Taiwan Institute of Urban Planning (TIUP), Urban Planning Society of China (UPSC), Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association (VUPDA), Singapore Institute of Planners (SIP), Hong Kong Institute of Planners (HKIP)), the annual fee is 6,000 JPY.
